Community Arts Management

Sticky Fingers are pleased to offer a six-week training programme in Community Arts Management aimed at local artists wishing to develop their skills and gain employment working within education or community settings. The course is also recommended for Community, Play and Youth Workers who wish to learn more about developing and managing art projects within their settings/ community.


The course will be facilitated one afternoon per week and participants are expected to complete a series of practical assignments.

On completion, course participants will have gainned an understanding of the arts sector in Northern Ireland, practical ways to develop projects from securing funding to evaluation and will have had the opportunity to network and meet different people working within the community arts sector.


 Learning Outcomes:

  • Work effectively with other people in a creative and cultural context.

  • Generating ideas for community arts projects, explore cross art forms collaborative projects.

  • Event management and how to organise a project, festival or event.

  • Keep up to date with developments in the arts in Northern Ireland.

  • Finance management and preparing budgets.

  • Procure services of artists and relevant professional organisations.

  • Identifying funding and preparing funding applications.

  • Conducting health and safety risk assessments of the event.

  • Understand how copyright law applies to the project or event.

  • Understanding working with children and young people.

  • Contribute to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults.

  • Marketing and public relation activities.

  • Evaluation and monitoring.




Course Requirements:

There are no formal requirements to apply for the course.

On successfully completing the course, certificates will be awarded to participants.
